WHEREAS, the Denton Community Market is a 501(c)3 producer -only farmer's market
and art market that started in April 2010; and
WHEREAS, the Denton Community Market provides valuable opportunities to local
makers, growers and producers while providing citizens with access to local produce; and
WHEREAS, the City Council recognizes this unique contribution made by the Denton
Community Market to the City of Denton and the downtown area; and
WHEREAS, the City Council supports the mission and goals of the Denton Community
Market; and
supportWHEREAS, the Denton Community Market has requested that the City Council formally
•• •n for funding from1 Promotion Program of
the Agricultural Marketing Service, - • States Departmentof Agriculture; and
SECTION 1. The City of Denton ("City"), a Texas home -rule municipal corporation
acting through its governing body, confirms its support for the Denton Community Market and its
mission and goals.
UnitedSECTION 2. The City supports the Denton Community Market's grant application for
funding from the FY 2017 Farmers Market Promotion Program of the Agricultural Marketing
States Department of Agriculture,
SECTION 3. The City Council approves and authorizes the execution on behalf of the
City of all other documents and writings whatsoever that may be necessary or convenient, in the
reasonable opinion of either the City Manager or the Interim City Attorney, for carrying out these
resollill ()nq
SECTION 4. The City Manager is authorized, empowered, and directed to certify these
resolutions to the United States Department of Agriculture, and, that these resolutions shall be
effective as of their date of passage by City Council.
