A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS, RE-ESTABLISHING AN AD HOC
CITY COUNCIL COMMITTEE AND APPOINTING COMMITTEE MEMBERS TO RE -VIEW
EMPLOYEE BENEFITS OF THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS AND TO ADVISE THE CITY
COUNCIL WITH REGARD TO THESE MATTERS; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
WHEREAS, on March 7, 2017, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 2017-007 which
established an ad hoc City Council Committee to analyze sick leave and vacation policies for
employees of the City of Denton, Texas, and
WHEREAS, on April 18, 2017, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 2017-014, which
amended Resolution No. 2017-007, by expanding the scope of the ad hoc City Council Committee
to review all of the City's policies regarding employee benefits, as well as setting a committee
dissolution date of May 16, 2017; and
WHEREAS, the ad hoc City Council Committee did not complete its review of the City's
policies governing employee benefits on or before May 16, 2017, and thus the committee was
dissolved through the terms of Resolution No, 2017-014; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that it is advisable that the ad hoc City
Council Committee be reestablished so as to complete the work that the committee was charged
with performing; NOW, THEREFORE,
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY RESOLVES:
SF','C'l]0N 1. The City Council hereby reestablishes an ad hoc committee to be called the
City Council Employee Benefits Committee, The Committee shall be composed of three (3)
members of the City Council: Keely Briggs, Sara Bagheri, and John Ryan. The City Manager, or
his designee, will provide guidance and assistance to the Committee and be responsible, for
insuring that records are maintained in accordance with the requirements of the City Secretary's
Office. The Committee members shall serve at the pleasure of the City Council until successors
are duly appointed by the Mayor and approved by the Denton City Council. The presiding officer
of the Committee shall be chosen by the Committee. Members of the Committee must be current
elected City Council members of the City of Denton, Texas.
Sl'CTION 2. The duties and purpose of the Committee shall be to review, consider, and
make recommendations to the City Council regarding the benefits for City of Denton employees.
The Committee shall proceed with its assigned duties in collaboration with the Human Resources
Department and City Manager's Office.
St"'C'110N 3. Upon completion of providing a final report and recommendations to the
City Council, the City Council Employee Benefits Committee shall be dissolved without further
action of the City Council,

SECTION 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage and
approval.
