WHEREAS, the City of Denton, Texas recognizes it does not have any binding autharity
regarding (i) spent nuclear fuel and nuclear waste transportatian palicy and procedures, (ii} use or
restrictions of rail systems, and (iii) restricting use of interstate and state highwayss and
WHEIZEAS, the City of Denton, Texas recognizes cancerns expressed by our citizens
regarding transporting spent nuclear fuel and nuclear waste thraugh aur City; and
WHEREAS, an application for a Consalidated Interim Storage Facility was submitted ta the
United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission by Interim Storage Partners, LLC on April 28, 2016;
and
WHEREAS, an applicatian far a Consalidated Interim Storage Facility was submitted ta the
United States Nuclear Regulatary Cammission by Haltec International on March 31, 2017; and
WHEREAS, these Consolidated Interim Storage facilities, if permitted, will likely result in
same of the spent nuclear fuel and high level radiaactive waste transported to these facilities passing
thraugh areas within or surraunding the City of Dentan; and
WHEREAS, spent nuclear fuel and high level radioactive waste shauld remain secured at or
near the site of generatian and should be transported anly once, when a scientifically valid
permanent storage site becomes availableg NOW, THEREFORE,

SECTION 1. That the City af Denton is opposed to the approval af the applications
submitted by Interim Storage Partners, LLC and Haltec International to the United States Nuclear
Regulatory Commission for a Consolidated Interim Storage Facility.
SECTION 2. The City Manager, or designee, is authorized ta provide this Resolutian to the
United States Nuclear Regulatory Commissian, other federal, state and local afficials and agencies
as needed, and to inform all parties of the City of Denton's concerns regarding the afarementioned
applications far Cansolidated Interim Storage Facilities.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage and
approval.
