D, On June 16, 2009, the Denton City Council re-established the City
Council Hotel Occupancy Tax Committee.
E. On October 23, 2018, the Denton City Council consolidated its multiple
sponsorship programs into one administrative city sponsorship program
for business purposes, to enhance operations, and in furtherance of the
City's service to the public.
�. The Denton City Council finds that it is in the public interest and
beneficial to enhanced efficiency of governmental operations to assign
additional duties to the Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT) Committee to
administer the city sponsorship program and to be re-established as the
Hatel Occupancy Tax (HOT) and Sponsorship Committee.
F. The Denton City Council finds that it is in the public interest to re-
establish the Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT) and Sponsorship Committee as
a standing committee of the City Council.
SECTION 2.
Re-establishment of the City Council Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT) and
Sponsorship Committee and statement of duties and purpose of the Committee.
A. The City Council re-establzshes a standing committee to be called the
Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT) and Sponsorship Committee. The
Committee shall be composed af three (3} members of the City Council to
be chosen and approved annually by the City Council. The City Manager,
or his or her designee, will provide guidance and assistance to the
Committee and be responsible for ensuring that recards are maintained in
accordance with requirements of the city secretary's ofiice.
F�. The Committee members shall serve at the pleasure of the City Council
until successors are chosen and approved by the Denton City Council. The
presiding officer of the Committee shall be chosen annually by the
Cammittee. Members of the Committee must be current elected City
Council members af the City of Denton, Texas.
C. The duties and purpose of the Committee shall be to monitor allocatian
and use of both the hotel occupancy tax and sponsorship funds, ensuring
HOT funds are being used to directly enhance and promote tourism and
the hotel/convention industry, ensuring the sponsarship funds are being
used to further a charitable cause, economic or community growth and
serve a public purpose in the best interest of the general welfare of the
City of Dentan, recammend organizations ta receive funding to the City
Council, and other duties as assigned by the City Council.
This resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage and approval.
