A RI;SOI.UTION OF THr C1TY OF DENTUN AUTHORIZING 7'T-IE CITY MANAGER, OR
HIS DI�SIC'JNL:E, 'I'U ACC�PT THE 2018 URBAN AREA SECiJRITY INITIATIVE (UASI)
GRANT (GRANT NO, 3692101) IN 'I'I-�E AMOUNT OF $26,000.00 FROM THE STATE OF
TEXAS OPFIC� OI' TH� GOVERNOR, THRO[JGH A GRANT FROM THE US
DEPARTMF_,NT OI' HOMCLAND S�CURITY POR TH� PERIOD OF SCPTEMBER 1, 2018,
THROUGH AUUUST 31, 2019; AND PROVIDINU AN EPFCCTIV� DATE,
WHEREAS, the purpose of the Ylrban Area Security Initiative ("UASI") Grant (Grant
No. 3692101) is to prevent and protect against terrorisin and other catastrophic events, or risk of
threats, by building and sustaining law enforcement capabilities throu�;h implementation of law
enforcement prevention activities, including rnultidiscipline planning and training; and
WI-�I:REAS, the City Council finds it in the best interest of the citizens of the City of
Denton ("City") to accept the Urban Area Security Initiative Grant ("Grant") and that the Grant
be operated for the period of September 1, 2018, through August 31, 2019; NOW,
THCREFORF.,,
THF., COUNCIL OF TI-IE CTTY OF DENTON HEREBY RESOLVES;
SECTION„m l. The fndings and recitations contained in the preamble of this Resolution
ai•e incoi•porated herein by reference.
SEC'I'ION 2, 'l'he City Council approvas and authorizes the City Manager, or his
designee, to accept the Urban Area Security Initiative Grant and to take any additional action in
connection with the Grant that the City Mana�;er, or his designee, deems most appropriate and in
the best interest of the City.
SF.,CTION 3. If any section, subsection, paragraph, sentence, clause, phrase, or word in
this Resolution, or the application thereof to any person or under any circumstances is held
invalid by any court of compctent jurisdiction, such holding shall not affect the validity of the
remaining portions of this Resolution, and the City Council hereby declares it would have
enacted such remainin� portions despite any such invalidity.
SI:CTION 4, This Resolution shall become effeetive immediately upon its passage and
