McKinney St., Denton, 'I,X 76201 •(940) 349-7717 The Honorable [Member af Congress] United States House of Representatives/Senate Washingtan DC 20515-XXX I • Dear [Senator/Representative] [Last Name]: As a leader in the City af Denton, Texas and the National League of Cities, I am writing ioday to ask for yaur commitment to address one of our cauntry's most pressing challenges—rebuilding America's infrastructure. As we emerge from an extended part►al government shutdown and return ta a warking, stable federal government, I'm jaining leaders fram the 19,000 cities, towns and villages across the country calling on our federal leaders to not repeat this crisis and to worlc in a bipartisan manner to pass camprehensive legislation that rebuilds and reimagines America's infrastructure ►n partnership with local governments. Infrastructure investments are the faundation that connects us as a country, improves the quality af life for aur residents, supports jabs for thousands of worl<ers, strengthens our natian's econamic competitiveness, and keeps our communities safe. Unfortunately, the federal partnership for infrastructure investments has eraded over the last two decades, putting America at risl< af falling hehind on an ever-►ncreasing list of patential hazards that undermine our ecanomy and threaten our standard of living. Today, our transportation networl< is a knat af cangestian and disrepair, aur braadband lags behind other countries and families drinl< from bottled water in the absence of safe tap water. Moving a bipartisan infrastructure package would demonstrate to the country that Congress is facused on delivering results that will imprave the daily lives af our constituents. Cities like mine will continue daing our share, but it is time for Congress ta act and rebuild with us. Across the country, much af aur infrastructure is at a breal<ing point. We need a strang federal-local partnership to upgrade the 100-year old leaking pipes, to replace the 50-year ald crumbling bridges and to install modern and resilient solutions for the next 100 years. Congress must prioritize a long-term infrastructure plan early in 2019 that w►ll warl< halistically ta improve our natian's water, broadband, and transpartatian systems and create well-paying jobs for our nation's workforce that w►11 build and maintain these important assets. For our economy and far our future, addressing America's infrastructure challenges is a shared priority in 2019. We lool< forward to meet►ng with you soan ta discuss haw we can worl< together. oUR CORE vAL[1ES Integrity • Fiscal Responsibility • Transparency • Outstanding Customer Service ,,/:;SI/In::a www.CityOfdCnton.Com TDD (800) 735-2989
