RESOLUTION NO. 19-421
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON, CONFIRMING
THE APPOINTMENT OF ROSA RIOS, BY THE CITY MANAGER, AS THE CITY
SECRETARY; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Jennifer Walters retired as the City Secretary effective 11:59 p.m. on
January 31, 2019; and
WHEREAS, Rachel Wood has served as Interim City Secretary since 12:00 a.m. on
February 1, 2019; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager's Office conducted a nationwide search to recruit a new,
permanent City Secretary; and
WHEREAS, following a national search, the City Manager pursuant to the Denton City
Charter Section 5.03 appointed Rosa Rios as the City Secretary, to become effective March 6,
2019, at 12:00 a.m.; anc9.
WHEREAS, said appointment is subject to approval by the City Council and the City
Council has determined the appointment should be confirmed; and NOW, THEREFORE;
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY RESOLVES:
SECTION _l. The recitals and findings contained in the preamble of this Resolution are
incorporated into the body of this Resolution.
SECTION 2. Rosa Rios is hereby appointed as the City Secretary of the City of Denton,
Texas, with said appointment to become effective at 12:00 a.m. March 6, 2019.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage and
