WHEREAS, the City of Denton is a community that accepts and embraces all individuals regardless of race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, disability status, national origin, genetics, or any protected classification under Federal or state law; and WHEREAS, the people of Denton stand against any mistreatment of our community members and will not allow acts of violence and hatred to occur; and WHERCAS, this culture of kindness transcends racial, political, and religious differences and follows the rich American tradition of being kind to one another regardless of outward differences; and WHEREAS, the City of Denton urges all residents to demonstrate kindness at every level of interaction with one another and asks organizations across the community to use this opportunity to engage in meaningful dialogue about the importance of displaying compassion to one another; NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY RESOLVES: SI_�(__ M I�l�l _�_ The City Council hereby adopts and incorporates the above referenced findings in this section. SECTION 2. The City Council is committed to stand with everyone in opposing hate and creating a community where all people can safely and fully live without threats of violence and hatred. SECTION 3.
