HomeMy WebLinkAbout19-2721RESOLUTION NO. 19-2%21 A RESOLUTION BY THE CITY OF DENTON AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER, OR HIS DESIGNEE, TO ACCEPT THE 2019 UASI — CITY OF DENTON —SPECIALIZED REGIONAL RESPONSE TEAM SUSTAINMENT (GRANT NO. 3421002)1N THE AMOUNT OF $144,137.31 FROM THE STATE OF TEXAS, OFFICE OF THE GOVERNOR, THROUGH A GRANT FROM THE US DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY FOR THE PERIOD OF NOVEMBER 1, 2019 THROUGH OCTOBER 31, 2020; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City of Denton was awarded the 2019 UASI — CITY OF DENTON — SPECIALIZED REGIONAL RESPONSE TEAM Grant (hereafter referred to as "Grant"); and WHEREAS, the purpose of the 2019 UASI — CITY OF DENTON —SPECIALIZED REGIONAL RESPONSE TEAM SUSTAINMENT (Grant No. 3421002) is to prevent and protect against terrorism and other catastrophic events or risk of threats within the City of Denton. WHEREAS, this Grant will enable the City of Denton Fire Department to enhance its Specialized Regional Response Team equipment utilized for hazardous operations or emergencies; and WHEREAS, the City Council finds it in the best interest of the citizens of the City of Denton ("City") to accept the 2019 UASI — CITY OF DENTON —SPECIALIZED REGIONAL RESPONSE TEAM GRANT and that the Grant be operated for the period of November 1, 2019 through October 31, 2020; NOW THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY RESOLVES: SECTION 1. The findings and recitation contained in the preamble of this Resolution are incorporated herein by reference. SECTION 2. In the event of loss or misuse of the Office of the Governor funds, the City assures that the funds will be returned to the Office of the Governor in full. SECTION 3. The City Manager or his designee is the City's designated, authorized official, with the power to apply for, accept, reject, alter or terminate the Grant on behalf of the City and to take any additional action in connection with the Grant that the City Manager, or his designee, deems most appropriate and in the best interest of the City. SECTION 4. To the extent any Resolution previously adopted by the City Council is inconsistent with this Resolution, it is hereby superseded. SECTION 5. If any section, subsection, paragraph, sentence, clause, phase, or word in this Resolution, or the application thereof to any person or under any circumstances is held invalid by any court of competent jurisdiction, such holding shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of this Resolution, and the City County of the City of Denton, hereby declares it would have enacted such remaining portion despite any such invalidity.
