A RESOLUTION TO APPOINT A MEMBER TO THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE
TEXAS MUNICIPAL POWER AGENCY, A TEXAS JOINT POWERS AGENCY, TO
REPRESENT THE CITY OF DENTON, A TEXAS HOME -RULE MUNICIPAL
CORPORATION; AND, DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, the City of Denton, a Texas home -rule municipal corporation, and the Cities
of Bryan, Garland and Greenville, all Texas home -rule municipal corporations, are the members
of the Texas Municipal Power Agency, a Texas joint powers agency, ("TMPA"); and
WHEREAS, Bill Cheek, a resident of Denton, is one of two members of the TMPA Board
of Directors which represent Denton; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Cheek's current term as a member of the TMPA Board of Directors will
expire on July 18, 2020; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of Denton, after due consideration, has selected Bill Cheek
for re -appointment to a two-year term as a member of the TMPA Board of Directors to represent
Denton for the term beginning on July 19, 2020 and ending on July 18, 2022; NOW, THEREFORE
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY RESOLVES:
SECTION 1. The recitations contained in the preamble of this resolution are incorporated
by reference as findings of the City Council.
SECTION 2. Pursuant to Ordinance No. 75-22, Bill Cheek is appointed to a two-year
term as a member of the Board of Directors of the Texas Municipal Power Agency to represent
the City of Denton for the term beginning on July 19, 2020 and ending on July 18, 2022.
SECTION 3. This resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage and
approval.
