HomeMy WebLinkAbout20-1708RESOLUTION NO.20-1708 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF DENTON IN SUPPORT OF THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION’S PROPOSED ALIGNMENT AND CONSTRUCTION SCHEDULE FOR THE LOOP 288 WEST NORTHBOUND AND SOUTHBOUND FRONTAGE ROAD CONSTRUCTION PROJECT; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SIGN A LETTER OF SUPPORT; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS, the City of Denton is committed to infrastructure investments that will accommodate firture growth in the community; and WHEREAS, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is a key partner in roadway improvement and expansion projects in Denton; and WHEREAS, TxDOT is currently planning a construction project to extend Loop 288 to the west from 1-35 to US 380 and from US 380 to 1-35W; and WHEREAS, the initial phase of the Loop 288 West Construction Project will include construction of the northbound and southbound frontage roads with the northbound frontage road initiating construction fIrst; and WHEREAS, this project is in the interest of Denton residents because it will help connect high-growth areas of the community to Denton’s urban core; NOW, THERFORE, THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY RESOLVES: SECTION 1. The City Council adopts and incorporates the above-referenced findings in this resolution. SECTION 2 The City Council of the City of Denton expresses support for TxDOT’s proposed Loop 288 West Northbound and Southbound Construction Project. SECTION 3. The City Council of the City of Denton authorizes the City Manager to sign a Letter of Support, attaching this resolution for the Loop 288 West Northbound and Southbound Construction Project, with the following projected construction schedule: • • • • • September 2020 – Environmental Clearance June 2022 – 100% Construction Plans Complete December 2024 – Right-of-Way Acquisition Complete April 2026 – Utility Relocations Complete April 2026 – Ready to Issue Bids for Construction SECTION 4.
