A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF DENTON AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 2012-026 TO
CHANGE THE NAME OF THE COMMITTEE ON CITIZEN ENGAGEMENT TO THE
COMMITTEE ON COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE
DATE
WHEREAS, the purpose of the Committee on Citizen Engagement (“Committee”) is to
ensure efficient'and timely distribution of accurate and complete information to our community;
and
WHEREAS, the Committee desires to engage members of the community in constructive
dialogue with the goal of refining and broadening community input in processes of city
governance; and
WHEREAS, on September 1, 2020, the Committee voted to recommend to the Denton City
Council that the name of the committee be modified to increase inclusiveness and better reflect the
diverse stakeholders within the Denton community;
WHEREAS the City Council acknowledges and accepts the Committee recommendation
regarding the modification of its name and the accompanying benefits as laid out above; NOW
THEREFORE,
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY RESOLVES:
SECTION 1. That Resolution No. 2012-026 is hereby amended to change the name of the
Committee on Citizen Engagement in all instances, references, and documents to the Committee
on Community Engagement.
SECTION 2. This resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage and
approval.
