HomeMy WebLinkAbout20-2418RESOLUTION NO.20-2418 A RESOLUTION BY THE CITY OF DENTON AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO APPLY FOR AND ACCEPT THE 2020 SHSP – CITY OF DENTON – EOD X-RAY EQUIPMENT ENHANCEMENT GRANT (GRANT NO. 4001601) IN THE AMOUNT OF $46,500 FROM THE STATE OF TEXAS, OFFICE OF TIn GOVERNOR, THROUGH A GRANT FROM THE US DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY FOR THE PERIOD OF NOVEMBER 1, 2020 THROUGH OCTOBER 31, 2021; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS, the City of Denton has been notified of its eligibility for the 2020 SHSP – CITY OF DENTON – EOD X-RAY EQUIPMENT ENHANCEMENT Grant (hereafter referred to as “Grant”); and WHEREAS, the purpose of the 2020 SHSP – CITY OF DENTON – EOD X-RAY EQUIPMENT ENHANCEMENT Grant (Grant No. 4001601) is to prevent and protect against terrorism and other catastrophic events or risk of threats within the City of Denton. WHEREAS, this Grant will enable the City of Denton Fire Department to enhance its City of Denton Bomb Squad equipment utilized for hazardous operations or emergencies; and WHEREAS, the City Council finds it in the best interest of the citizens of the City of Denton (“City”) to apply for the Grant and to accept the Grant, if awarded, to be operated for the period of November 1, 2020 through October 3 1, 2021 ; NOW THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY RESOLVES: SECTION 1. The findings and recitation contained in the preamble of this Resolution are incorporated herein by reference. SECTION 2. In the event of loss or misuse of the Office of the Governor funds, the City assures that the funds will be returned to the Office of the Governor in full. SECTION 3. The City Manager or his designee is the City’s designated, authorized official, with the power to apply for, accept, reject, alter or terminate the Grant on behalf of the City and to take any additional action in connection with the Grant that the City Manager, or his designee, deems most appropriate and in the best interest of the City. SECTION 4. The City Manager or his designee is hereby authorized to apply for and accept Grant No. 4001601. SECTION 5. To the extent any Resolution previously adopted by the City Council is inconsistent with this Resolution, it is hereby superseded. Page 1 SECTION 6. If any section, subsection, paragraph, sentence, clause, phase, or word in this Resolution, or the application thereof to any person or under any circumstances is held invalid by any court of competent jurisdiction, such holding shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of this Resolution, and the City of Denton hereby declares it would have enacted such remaining portion despite any such invalidity.
