A RESOLUTION BY THE CITY OF DENTON AUTHORIZ[NG THE CITY MANAGER TO
APPLY FOR AND ACCEPT THE 2020 UASI – CITY OF DENTON – SPECLALIZED
REGIONAL RESPONSE TEAMS SUSTAINMENT (GRANT NO. 3421003) IN THE
AMOUNT OF $144,137.31 FROM THE STATE OF TEXAS, OFFICE OF THE GOVERNOR,
THROUGH A GRANT FROM THE US DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY FOR
THE PERIOD OF NOVEMBER 1, 2020 THROUGH OCTOBER 31, 2021; AND PROVIDING
AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Denton has been not#led of its eligibility br the 2020 UASI –
DENTON –SPECIALIZED REGIONAL RESPONSE TEAMS SUSTAINMENT Grant (hereafter
referred to as “Grant”); and
WHEREAS, the purpose of the 2020 UASI – DENTON –SPECIALIZED REGIONAL
RESPONSE TEAMS SUSTAINMENT (Grant No. 3421003) is to prevent and protect against
terrorism and other catastrophic events or risk of threats within the City of Denton.
WHEREAS, this Grant will enable the City of Denton Fire Departnnnt to enhance its
Specialized Regional Response Teams Sustainment equipment utilized for hazardous operations
or emergencies; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds it in the best interest of the citizens of the City of
Denton (“City”) to apply for the Grant and to accept the Grant, if awarded, to be operated for the
period of November 1, 2020 through October 31, 2021; NOW THEREFORE,
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY RESOLVES:
SECTION 1. The findings and recitation contained in the preamble of this Resolution are
incorporated herein by reference.
SECTION 2. In the event of loss or misuse of the Office of the Governor firnds, the City
assures that the hInds will be returned to the Office of the Governor in full.
SECTION 3. The City Manager or his designee is the City’s designated, authorized
official, with the power to apply for, accept, reject, alter or terminate the Grant on behalf of the
City and to take any additional action in connection with the Grant that the City Manager, or his
designee, deems nnst appropriate and in the best interest of the City.
SECTION 4. The City Manager or his designee is hereby authorized to apply for and accept
Grant No . 342 1003.
SECTION 5 . To the extent any Resolution previously adopted by the City Council is
inconsistent with this Resolution, it is hereby superseded.

SECTION 6. If any section, subsection, paragraph, sentence, clause, phase, or word in
this Resolution, or the application thereof to any person or under any chcumstances is held
invalid by any court of conpetent jurisdiction, such holding shall not affect the validity of the
rennining portions of this Resolution, and the City of Denton hereby declares it would have
enacted such remaining portion despite any such invalidity.
SECTION 7. This Resolution shall becomE effective immediately upon its passage and
approval.
