HomeMy WebLinkAbout21-133RESOLUTION NO. 21-133 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF DENTON ADOPTING THE 2020-2021 CITY COUNCIL PRIORITIES AND 202 1 WORK PLAN FOR THE CITY OF DENTON; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City Council’s annual priorities serve as the primary focus for staff efforts each year; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Denton considers priorities for the fiscal year during its annual retreat; and WHEREAS, the City Council held their annual retreat on February 12, 2021, and discussed potential topics to be included in the City Council’s priorities for the 2020-2021 fiscal year; and WHEREAS, the City Council now desires to formally adopt the City of Denton’s Fiscal Year 2020-2021 priorities and include additional items in the 2021 work plan to help ensure the City is focused on addressing the initiatives that matter most to Denton residents and the community; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY RESOLVES: SECTION 1. The findings set forth in the preamble of this resolution are incorporated by reference into the body of this resolution as if fully set forth herein. SECTION 2 2020-2021 priorities: • Implement the Economic Development Strategic Plan The City Council hereby adopts the following City Council Fiscal Year •Develop Loop 288 to Serve Individuals Experiencing Homelessness •Undergo a Comprehensive Plan Update •Develop a Comprehensive Solid Waste Management Strategy Develop an Affordable Housing Strategy• •Respond to COVID-19 •Complete Mobility Plan Improve Capital Project Planning and Communication Develop Plan, Including Architectural Design, RFP Strategy, and Funding Options, For City Hall West SECTION 3. The City Council also directs staff to include the following into the work plan for 2021 : VehicleTopic o on r Mm otential future phases Department Finance Community Services Target the No New Tax Rate (Operations and Maintenance) Provide technology training for residents (seniors/youth Education and Review of Domestic Violence resPonse and resources Additional electric vehicles on City streets Include Boards and Commissions into the one-minute DitCh Process Provide an update on the implementation of the Tree Ordinance Fair Housing webinar/training for City Council o >artnershil Electric line undergrounding strategy Budget Planning I Finance I Work Session Development Services, Police, Legal City Manager’s OfficeResolution Work Session Development Services Work Session City Manager’s Office, Legal Informal Staff Report Parks and Recreation, Economic Development DME, Finance, Development Services Economic Development, Parks and Recreation Community Services, Development Services Informal Staff Report Study and strategy regarding erformance venues Research on rental housing standards Work Session Informal Staff Report SECTION 4. This resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage and approval.
