A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON. TEXAS
APPOINTING A MEMBER TO THE DENTON COUNTY WORKFORCE SUCCESS
LEADERSHIP TEAM; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Denton County Workforce Success Leadership Team Bylaws outline the
board composition and states, in part, “ ...shall be composed of appointees from the following
entities ... (1) City of Denton.”
WHEREAS, the former member was John Ryan who served until May 202 1 after the
results of the General Election were duly canvassed, thereby creating one (1) vacancy; and
WHEREAS, Denton County Workforce Success Leadership Bylaws provide for a two-
term limit in an appointment cycle for appointed members.
WHEREAS, the City Council understands the important work performed by the Denton
County Workforce Success Leadership Team and therefore wishes to appoint a member to fill
the existing vacancy; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Denton, after due consideration, has selected
Mayor Pro Tem Paul Meltzer to serve on the Denton County Workforce Success Leadership
Team to fill the unexpired term ending June 30, 2021 (such applicable term covering the period
of July 1, 2019 through June 30, 2021) and a full term ending June 30, 2023 (such applicable
term covering the period of July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2023); NOW, THEREFORE,
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY RESOLVES:
SECTION 1. The recitations in the preamble of this resolution are incorporated by
reference as findings of the City Council.
SECTION 2. Mayor Pro Tem Paul Meltzer is appointed to serve on the Denton County
Workforce Success Leadership team to fill the unexpired term ended June 30, 2021 and a full
term ending June 30, 2023 .
SECTION 3. This resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage and
approval.
