HomeMy WebLinkAbout21-1869RESOLUTION NO. 2I-1869- A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF DENTON ABOLISHING THE CITY COUNCIL AUDIT/FINANCE COMMITTEE; ABOLISHING THE CITY COUNCIL AIRPORT COMMITTEE; ABOLISHING THE CITY COUNCIL COMMITTEE ON COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City Council has established and designated the Audit/Finance Committee on April 18, 2006, by Resolution No. 82006-013 (as amended by Resolution No. R2006-026) to act as an advisory body to the Denton City Council to provide governance and oversight of the organization's audit activities, internal controls, and financial and operational reporting; and WHEREAS, the City further made additional amendments, reestablished the Audit/Finance committee, and set forth the duties of the Audit/Finance Committee on June 16, 2009 by Resolution No. R2009-015; and WHEREAS, the City finds it is in the public interest to repeal the Audit/Finance Committee, and its duties and responsibilities will revert to the City Council; and WHEREAS, the City Council has established and designated the City Council Airport Committee on April 5, 2011 by Resolution No. R2011-09 as an amendment to Resolution No. R2009-015; and WHEREAS, the City finds it is in the public interest to repeal the City Council Airport Committee, and its duties and responsibilities will revert to the City Council; and WHEREAS, the City Council has established and designated the Committee on Citizen Engagement on September 11, 2012 by Resolution No. R2012-026 as an amendment to Resolution No. R2009-015; and WHEREAS, the City by Resolution No. 20-1873 amended the name of the Committee on Citizen Engagement on October 20, 2020 and thereafter the Committee was named the Committee on Community Engagement; and WHEREAS, the City finds it is in the public interest to repeal the Committee on Community Engagement, and its duties and responsibilities will revert to the City Council; and WHEREAS to enhance efficiency in governmental operations the City Council finds that it is in the public interest the Audit/Finance Committee, the City Council Airport Committee, and the Committee on Community Engagement should be abolished and all portions of the resolutions creating, defining, amending and renaming these committees should be rescinded, in whole or in part; NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY RESOLVES: SECTION 1. The Audit/Finance Committee is hereby abolished; the duties and responsibilities of said committee will revert to the City Council and the Audit/Finance Committee shall cease to exist. SECTION 2. Section 2, including Parts A, B, and C, of Resolution No. R2009-015 are rescinded. SECTION 3. The City Council Airport Committee is hereby abolished; the duties and responsibilities of said committee will revert to the City Council and the City Council Airport Committee shall cease to exist. SECTION 4. Resolution No. R2011-09 and all parts of Resolution No. 82009-015 amended by Resolution No. R2011-09 regarding the City Council Airport Committee are hereby rescinded. SECTION 5. The Committee on Community Engagement is hereby abolished; the duties and responsibilities of said committee will revert to the City Council and the Committee on Community Engagement shall cease to exist. SECTION 6. Resolution No. 82012-026, Resolution No. 2020-1873, and all parts of Resolution 2009-015 amended by Resolution 2012-06 regarding the Committee on Community Engagement are hereby rescinded. SECTION 7. Title 1X of Resolution No. R2009-015 is renumbered to Title VIII. SECTION 8. This resolution is effective immediately upon its passage and approval.
