HomeMy WebLinkAbout22-529RESOLUTION NO.22-529 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF DENTON SUPPORTING THE CENTERS FOR DISEASE CONTROL AND PREVENTION (CDC) GUIDELINES REGARDING THE PREVENTION OFINCREASED TRANSMISSION OF AND SEVERE DISEASE FROM THE COVID-19 VIRUS ;AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, beginning in December 2019, a novel coronavirus, now designated SARS- CoV2 which causes the disease COVID-19 and its variants, has spread throughout the world and was declared a global pandemic by the World Health Organization; and WHEREAS, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has and continues to provide fact-based public health guidance and guidelines regarding COVID-19 preventative measures, vaccination, and testing; and WHEREAS, throughout the pandemic, the City of Denton has followed the guidance of the CDC to promote the health and safety of all who work, live, or visit Denton and will continue to monitor the progress of the COVID-19 pandemic and the advice of the public health community;and WHEREAS, the City Council deems it in the public’s best interest to adhere to the current and future CDC guidelines regarding COVID-19 prevention, vaccination, and testing and encourages everyone to follow the health recommendations of the CDC and their personal healthcare provider; NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY RESOLVES : SECTION 1. The findings and recitation contained in the preamble of this Resolution are incorporated herein by reference. SECTION 2. The City Council encourages everyone within the City of Denton to follow the current and future CDC guidelines regarding COVID-19 prevention, vaccination, and testing. SECTION 3 . This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage and approval.
