A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF DENTON RATIFYING THE SUBMISSION OF AN
APPLICATION TO THE STATE OF TEXAS, OFFICE OF THE GOVERNOR, 2022 STATE
HOMELAND SECURITY PROGRAM (SHSP) GRANT PROGRAM FUNDED THROUGHTHE US DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY IN THE AMOUNT OF $14,000 FORA DECONTAMINATION KIT; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Denton has been notified of its eligibility for the 2022 SHSP grant
and applied for said grant within the time aames required by the application process; and
WHEREAS, the grant is awarded by the State of Texas, Office of the Governor, and funded
by the US Department of Homeland Security for the period of October 1, 2022 through September
30, 2023; and
WHEREAS, the grant is designed to enhance the ability of local governments to prevent,
protect against, respond to, and recover from terrorist attacks and other disasters.; and
WHEREAS, the grant will provide necessary equipment to the Regional Hazardous
Materials Response Team; and
WHEREAS, the grant will allow the specialized regional response team to continue the
mission of detecting and mitigating temoristic incidents to the residents of the North Texas; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds it in the best interest of the citizens of the City of
Denton to accept the grant award, to be operated for the period of October 1, 2022 throughSeptember 30, 2023 ; NOW THEREFORE,
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY RESOLVES:
SECTION 1. The application for the 2022 SHSP grant made January 25, 2022 is herebyratified.
SECTION 2. The City Manager or designee is designated, delegated, and authorized to
request and accept grant funding under the 2022 SHSP grant, including the submission of the grant
application, and act on behalf of the City of Denton in all matters related to the grant application
and any subsequent grant contracts and grant projects that may result.
SECTION 3. The City shall comply with the requirements of the Texas Office of the
Governor, the US Department of Homeland Security, and the State of Texas.
SECTION 4. The project funds and any project-funded equipment and facilities will be
used solely for the purposes for which they are intended under the grant.
SECTION 5. The City agrees that in the event of loss or misuse of the Office of the
Governor funds, the City assures that the funds will be returned to the Office of the Governor in

SECTION 6. This resolution is effective immediately upon its passage.
