Focus on City Staffing, Benefits and Sustainability In Progress Many initiatives in progress, including hiring new FY22/23 positions, implementing FY22/23 compensation, implementing Paid Parental Leave benefit, contracting for a Compensation & Classification study, and evaluating future benefits strategy. Form a Municipal Housing Corporation to Focus on Workforce and Affordable Housing Staff is preparing a work session report for City Council in October regarding the creation of Public Facility Corporations to develop affordable housing in Denton. Execute Housing Affordability Program In Progress Anticipate starting three (3) strategies that are approved for funding on October 1 and finalizing one of the tools. Increase Tourism In Progress Staff is working with the development community to bring a diversity of hotel inventory to the City. Staff is also coordinating closely with Discover Denton and strengthening that relationship. Develop and Implement Area Plans In Progress For the NE area plan, following issuance of an RFQ and evaluation of consultant responses, staff is currently negotiating a scope of services (cost proposal) with the preferred consultant identified. Staff anticipates having a professional agreement for Council's consideration in November 2022. For the SE area plan, an RFQ was issued, and staff is currently evaluating consultant responses received. Staff anticipates having a professional agreement for Council's consideration in December 2022/January 2023. For the Downtown area plan, staff is drafting the RFQ and anticipates having it published by the end of October 2022. A consultant evaluation process will follow upon receiving consultant responses. Relocate Concrete Plant through Partnership with Vulcan Materials Economic Development staff has engaged Vulcan Materials in relocation and partnership discussions. Expand Vehicle Fleet and Infrastructure In Progress Expansion of the Fleet Services main shop, scheduled completion Q1 FY23/24. Completion of this project will reduce vehicle downtime and provide a safer work environment.Fleet is continuing the install of GPS systems, allowing vehicles to be tracked and milage logged remotely to assist with preventative maintenance. Expanding on our electric vehicle assets and the infrastructure to support is one of our top priorities.
