HomeMy WebLinkAbout23-136RESOLUTION NO. 23-136 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF DENTON RATIFYING THE SUBMISSION OF AN APPLICATION TO THE STATE OF TEXAS, OFFICE OF THE GOVERNOR, 2023 BULLET-RESISTANT SHIELD GRANT PROGRAM IN THE AMOUNT OF $28,500 FOR EQUIPMENT; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City of Denton has been notified of its eligibility for the 2023 BULLET- RESISTANT SHIELD grant and applied for said grant within the timeRames required by the application process; and WHEREAS, the grant is awarded by the State of Texas, Office of the Governor, for the period of October 1, 2022 through September 30, 2023; and WHEREAS, the purpose of the grant is to equip peace officers with bullet-resistant shields;and WHEREAS, the grant will provide necessary equipment to Student Resource Officers serving Denton Independent School District campuses; and WHEREAS, the City Council finds it in the best interest of the citizens of the City of Denton to accept the grant award, to be operated for the period of October 1, 2022 through September 30, 2023; NOW THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY RESOLVES: SECTION 1. The application for the 2023 BULLET-RESISTANT SHIELD grant made September 15, 2022 is hereby ratified. SECTION 2. The City Manager or designee is designated, delegated, and authorized to request and accept grant funding under the 2023 BULLET-RESISTANT SHIELD grant, including the submission of the grant application, and act on behalf of the City of Denton in all matters related to the grant application and any subsequent grant contracts and grant projects that may result SECTION 3. The City shall comply with the requirements of the Texas Office of the Governor, the US Department of Homeland Security, and the State of Texas. SECTION 4. The project funds and any project-funded equipment and facilities will be used solely for the purposes for which they are intended under the grant. SECTION 5. The City agrees that in the event of loss or misuse of the Office of the Governor funds, the City assures that the funds will be returned to the Office of the Governor in full SECTION 6. This resolution is effective immediately upon its passage.
