A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF DENTON APPOINTING MEMBERS TO THEDISCOVER DENTON ADVISORY BOARD; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Discover Denton Advisory Board Policy and Guidelines outline the
board composition and states, in part, “... the Denton City Council annually appoints three (3)
sitting city council representatives, at least two of whom also serve on the Hotel Occupancy Tax
(HOT) subcommittee of the City Council.” ', and
WHEREAS, on September 1, 2021, City Council adopted Resolution No. 20-1471
modifying the name of the Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT) and Sponsorship Committee to the
Community Partnership Committee; and
WHEREAS, the Discover Denton Advisory Board Policy and Guidelines also provides
the Mayor is considered a non-voting ex-officio member and is not considered an appointee for
the purpose of meeting the three-member appointment noted above; and
WHEREAS, to eliminate a quorum of the Denton City Council from serving at one time
on the Discover Denton Advisory Board, the City Council has elected to fill two (2) of the threeboard member seats; and
WHEREAS, the City Council understands the important work performed by the DiscoverDenton Advisory Board; NOW THEREFORE,
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY RESOLVES:
SECTION 1. The recitations in the preamble of this resolution are incorporated byreference.
SECTION 2. Council Members Vicki Byrd and Joe Holland, who also serve on the
Community Partnership Committee are appointed to serve on the Discover Denton Advisory
Board for the remainder of the term ending September 30, 2023 (such applicable term coveringthe period of October 1, 2021 through September 30, 2023) and the following term endingSeptember 30, 2023 (such applicable term covering the period of October 1, 2023 through
September 30, 2025).
SECTION 3. This resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage and
approval.
