A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF DENTON APPOINTING A MEMBER AND PROXY TO
THE NORTH TEXAS COMMISSION; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex is unique and home to 7.5 million people.North Texas is one of the fastest-growing regions in the U.S. and currently the nation’s 4th
largest region; and
WHEREAS, the North Texas Commission was created as a non-profit corporation
chartered under the laws of the State of Texas and manages the region's unified advocacy voiceat the state and federal levels; and
WHEREAS, the City of Denton has been a member of the North Texas Commission
since 1978 and can appoint a member and proxy; and
WHEREAS, the City Council understands the important work performed by the North
Texas Commission and therefore wishes to continue appointing a member and proxy; NOWTHEREFORE,
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY RESOLVES:
SECTION 1. The recitations in the preamble of this resolution are incorporated byreference.
SECTION 2. Mayor Gerard Hudspeth is reappointed as a member of the North Texas
Commission and the City Manager as the proxy to represent the City of Denton, for the term
ending September 30, 2024 (such applicable term covering the period of October 1, 2023
through September 30, 2024).
SECTION 3. This resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage and
approval.
