A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF DENTON RATIFYING THE SUBMISSION OF AN
APPLICATION TO THE STATE OF TEXAS, OFFICE OF THE GOVERNOR, 2023 RIFLE-
RESISTANT BODY ARMOR GRANT PROGRAM IN THE AMOUNT OF $65,000 FOR
EQUEPMENT; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Denton has been notified of its eligibility for the 2023 RIFLE-
RESISTANT BODY ARMOR grant and applied for said grant within the timeframes required by
the application process; and
WHEREAS, the grant is awarded by the State of Texas, Office of the Governor, for the
period of September 1, 2023 through August 3 1, 2024; and
WHEREAS, the purpose of the grant is to equip law enforcement officers with rifle-
resistant body armor; and
WHEREAS, the grant will provide necessary equipment to law enforcement officers
serving the City of Denton; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds it in the best interest of the citizens of the City of
Denton to accept the grant award, to be operated for the period of September 1, 2023 through
August 3 1, 2024; NOW THEREFORE,
THE COUNCL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY RESOLVES:
SECTION 1. The application for the 2023 RIFLE-RESISTANT BODY ARMOR grant
made January 17, 2023 is hereby ratified.
SECTION 2. The City Manager or designee is designated, delegated, and authorized to
request and accept grant funding under the 2023 RIFLE-RESISTANT BODY ARMOR grant,
including the submission of the grant application, and act on behalf of the City of Denton in all
matters related to the grant application and any subsequent grant contracts and grant projects that
may result.
SECTION 3. The City shall comply with the requirements of the Texas Office of the
Governor, the US Department of Homeland Security, and the State of Texas.
SECTION 4. The City shall provide applicable matching funds for the grant as required by
the Texas Office of the Governor, the US Department of Homeland Security, and the State of
Texas
SECTION 5. The project funds and any project-funded equipment and facilities will be
used solely for the purposes for which they are intended under the grant.
SECTION 6. The City agrees that in the event of loss or misuse of the Office of the
Governor funds, the City assures that the funds will be returned to the Office of the Governor in
full
SECTION 7. This resolution is effective immediately upon its passage.
