HomeMy WebLinkAbout23-2485RESOLUTION NO. 23-2485 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF DENTON RATIFYING THE SUBMISSION OF AN APPLICATION BY THE CITY OF DENTON PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT (PARD) TO THE CITY OF DENTON COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT FOR THE 2024/25 COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM (CDBG) IN THE AMOUNT OF $250,000 TO CONSTRUCT AND EXTEND THE TRAIL LOOP AT DENIA PARK AND ADD AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT (ADA) COMPLIANT CONNECTING TRAILS AT CARL GENE YOUNG SR PARK; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Community Development Department opened the 2024-2025 CDBG Program application on December 15, 2023, for projects providing Human Services and Housing and Public Facility programs designed to improve housing, neighborhoods, and quality of life for individuals and families living with the City limits; and WHEREAS, the organizations eligible for the CDBG Program are nonprofit agencies and organizations serving residents; and WHEREAS, the PARD is eligible to apply for the funds under the application criteria; and WHEREAS, the grant application requests $250,000 in funding to the PARD for the construction and extension of the trail loop at Denia Park and the addition of ADA connecting trails at Carl Gene Young Sr Park; and WHEREAS, grant applications were due on January 15, 2024; and WHEREAS, the PARD developed the necessary application materials and applied to the 2024-2025 CDBG Program. NOW THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY RESOLVES: SECTION 1. The application for the 2024-2025 CDBG Program is hereby ratified. SECTION 2. The City Manager, or designee, is designated, delegated, and authorized to request grant funding under the 2024-2025 CDBG Program, including the submission of the application, and act on behalf of the City of Denton, including the PARD in all matters related to the grant application and any subsequent grant contracts and grant projects that may result. SECTION 3. Should the project be funded, then the City of Denton PARD shall comply with the requirements of the Community Development Department. SECTION 4. The project funds and any project-funded equipment and facilities will be used solely for the purposes for which they are intended under the grant. SECTION 5. This resolution is effective immediately upon its passage.
