HomeMy WebLinkAbout24-385RESOLUTION NO. 24-385 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF DENTON AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION OF AN APPLICATION TO THE TEXAS PARKS AND WILDLIFE DEPARTMENT (TPWD) OUTDOOR RECREATIONAL LEGACY PARTNERSHIP PROGRAM 2024 FUNDED BY THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF THE INTERIOR NATIONAL PARK SERVICE IN THE AMOUNT OF $2,250,000 FOR MATERIALS AND CONSTRUCTION COSTS TO RENOVATE MACK PARK; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the National Parks Service opened the Outdoor Recreational Legacy Partnership (ORLP) Program grant application on November 8, 2023 to provide new or significantly improved recreation opportunities in urban, disadvantaged communities, consistent with the purposes and requirements of the Land and Water Conservation Fund Act (LWCF); and WHEREAS, the Outdoor Recreational Legacy Partnership Program is funded by a Congressional allocation under the LWCF; and WHEREAS, TPWD may submit qualified and competitive local applications to NPS for ORLP funding consideration; and WHEREAS, the ORLP Program requires a 1:1 matching amount from the local government applicant; and WHEREAS, the City of Denton is eligible to apply for the funds under the application criteria; and WHEREAS, the City has developed the necessary application materials and desires to make an application to the TPWD Outdoor Recreational Legacy Partnership Program 2024; and WHEREAS, grant applications are due on March 15, 2024, and requires that the applying entity adopt a resolution authorizing the submittal of the grant application before April 15, 2024; NOW THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY RESOLVES: SECTION 1. The recitals are hereby incorporated and made part of this resolution for all purposes. SECTION 2. The application for the Outdoor Recreational Legacy Partnership Program 2024 is hereby authorized. SECTION 3. The City Manager, or designee, is designated, delegated, and authorized to request grant funding under the TPWD Outdoor Recreational Legacy Partnership Program, including the submission of TPWD’s application information and materials, and act on behalf of the City of Denton in all matters related to the grant application and any subsequent grant contracts and grant projects that may result. SECTION 4. Should the project be funded, then the City of Denton shall comply with the requirements of the National Parks Service, TPWD, and the State of Texas. SECTION 5. The City of Denton shall certify that the matching share for this program is readily available upon completion of the grant agreement. SECTION 6. The project funds and any project-funded equipment and facilities will be used solely for the purposes for which they are intended under the grant. SECTION 7. This resolution is effective immediately upon its passage.
