RESOLUTION
BE IT~ RESOLVED THAT THE FOLLOWING REMARKS BE ENTERED UPON THE
MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON~ TEXAS:

hended at the scene of the crame.
The Mayor and Clty Councll wash to extend their
personal and genuane thanks for such an out-
standang act of courage d~splayed by Philip M.
Brown~ which showed his 1nterest and concern for
his fellowman, and hzs respect for law.

On behalf of the people of the City of Denton, the
IMayor and City Council hereby publicly express
I their sincere apprea~ation of Don R. Carter, for
Ibis participation a~ a member of the Police Emer-
gency l~eserve ~n the apprehension of a criminal ~n
the act of co~raltting armed robbery at the Piggly
Wiggly store located at Locust and University
Drive~ on October 20, 1967.
Thls act of courage Ln the face of real danger
prevented the completion of the robbery~ and,
even though acting in the l~ne of duty, the sa~d
Don R. Carter was then and there a c~v~l~an volunteer,
w~rking without pay to assist the regular police
f~rce of the City, which assastance ~s at all times
appreciated and serves a definite need.
The Mayor and Caty Council w~sh to extend their
sincere thanks for such act of duty, and for follow-

great courage.
