Whltson~ Jr.~ has served the Czty of Denton as Clty Councilman from April 3~ 1962, through April 9, 1968, and as its Mayor from May 15~ 1962 to April 11, 1967; and WHER~AS~ Warren P. Wh~tson~ Jr.~ has declined to seek re-electmon in order to more fully meet hms res- ponslh~l~tmes as a leading businessman of our Community; and WHEREAS~ throughout hzs tenure of offzce~ sacrificing valuable tmme to be Mayor and Cmty Councllman~ Warren P. Whmtson~ Jr.~ has exhmb~ted those unique qualmtles of frmendllness~ outstandmng leadershlp~ energy and famthful devotmon to duty that has marked his servmce to the City of Denton as excellent; and WHEREAS~ Warren P. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and City Council of the City of Denton, that said offer as submitted, together with the terms and conditions thereof, ~s hereby accepted and approved, and that Zeke Martin, Mayor, of the C~ty of Denton, is hereby authorized and directed tO sign said Offer mhd Acceptance and any other necessary documents re- quired to complete the pro3ect on behalf of sa~d city BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the C~ty of Denton has or will procure a fee simple or such other estate or interest in the site of the project, nclud~ng the necessary easements and r~ghts-of-way, aa to assure undis- turbed use and possession for the purposes of construction, operation and maintenance of the works for the estimated life of the pro3eot, and that in the event such tttle~ estate, or interest in such site, easements or rights-of-way may in the future be contested, the City of Denton, will defend and maintain its title in such site and hold the United States Government blameless in such action, and that before any federal payment ia requested pursuant to said grant, sa~d city will provide certification aa to the sufficiency of such estate or ~nterest PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a meeting of the City Council of the City of Denton on the 23rd day of April, 1968.
