HomeMy WebLinkAboutR2004-044RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF DENTON CITY COUNCIL REQUESTING THE TEXAS MUNICIPAL LEAGUE TO SUPPORT LEGISLATION FOR A METHOD OF ROAD ASSESSMENT DAMAGES OR INCREASED FEES PAID BY HEAVY TRUCKS IN USING CITY, COUNTY OR STATE ROADS; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Texas Municipal League will hold its annual conference on October 27 - 29, in Corpus Cbaisti, Texas; and WHEREAS, the cities in North Texas are experiencing a tremendous amount of road damage as a result of gas well drilling in the Barnett Shale; and WHEREAS, legislation is needed that provides for a method of road assessment damages or increased fees paid by heavy trucks in using city, county or state roads; NOW THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY RESOLVES: SECTION 1. That the City Council requests that the Texas Municipal League support legislation that provides for a method of road assessment damages or increased fees paid by heavy trucks in using city, county or state roads. SECTION 2. That the City Manager is authorized to forward a copy of this resolution to Mr. Frank Sturzl, Executive Director of the Texas Municipal League. SECTION 3.
