A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON CONFIRMING THE
CITY MANAGER’S APPOINTMENT OF DIANNE BAKER TO THE CIVIL SERVICE
COMMiSSION TO SERVE FOR THE TERM BEGINNING SEPTEMBER 1, 2024, AND
ENDING AUGUST 31, 2027; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Chapter 143.006(b) of the Texas Local Government Code states, “The
commission consists of three members appointed by the municipality’s chief executive and
confirmed by the governing body of the municipality” ;and
WHEREAS, Chapter 143.006(c), provides that a person appointed to the Commission
must :
( 1) be of good moral character;
(2) be a United States citizen;
(3) be a resident of the municipality who has resided in the municipality for more than three
years;
(4) be over 25 years of age; and
(5) not have held a public office within the preceding three years; and
WHEREAS, after determining that Dianne Baker meets the requirements in Chapter
143.006(c), the City Manager appointed Dianne Baker to serve as a Civil Service Commissioner
to serve the term beginning September 1, 2024, and ending August 3 1, 2027.
WHEREAS, NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON
HEREBY RESOLVES :
SECTION 1: The City Council hereby confirms the City Manager’s appointment of
Dianne Baker to the Civil Service Commission to serve for the term beginning September 1, 2024,
and ending August 3 1, 2027.
SECTION 2: That this Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage
and approval.
