HomeMy WebLinkAbout24-2529ORDINANCE NO. 24-2529 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF DENTON, A TEXAS HOME-RULE MUNICIPAL CORPORATION, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE CONTRACTS REGARDING LOCAL TELEPHONE COMPANIES AND THE USE OF A 311 SHORT DIALING CODE; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, Denton 311 will provide a 3 digit mobile dialing number coordinating with local telephone companies to provide services to Denton 3 11 ; WHEREAS, the City Council recognizes that the services provided by each such telephone company to meet a public purpose and provide a governmental function; and WHEREAS, the City Council recognizes Denton 311’s need to execute and manage these agreements from time to time without additional City Council authority; NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS: SECTION 1. That the findings and recitations contained in the preamble of this ordinance are incorporated herein by reference and are made a part of this ordinance. SECTION 2. The City Council approves the form agreements, attached hereto as Exhibit A (AT&T Mobility), Exhibit B (T-Mobile), and Exhibit C (Verizon) for use in formalizing acquisition of a 311 short code, subject to all applicable federal, state, and local laws. SECTION 3. The City Council of the City of Denton, hereby expressly delegates the authority to the City Manager, or their designee, to enter into any additional agreements regarding the acquisition of 311 short dialing code of which are no cost to the City and to take any additional actions under existing 311 short dialing code agreements that are deemed necessary or advisable by the City Manager, or their designee, or may be required or permitted to be performed by the City of Denton under this ordinance to the City Manager of the City of Denton, or their designee. SECTION 4. This ordinance shall become effective immediately upon its passage and the motion to approve this ordinance was made by Brian Beck and seconded by Brandon Chase McGee.
