AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF DENTON ORDER[NG AN ELECTION FOR DISTRICTS
1, 2, 3, AND 4 TO BE HELD ON MAY 3, 2025, AND IF REQUIRED, A RUNOFF ELECTION
TO BE HELD ON JUNE 7, 2025; PRESCRIBING THE TIME, MANNER, AND CONDUCT OF
THE ELECTION IN ACCORDANCE WITH A JOINT ELECTION AGREEMENT AND
CONTRACT FOR ELECTION SERVICES WITH THE ELECTIONS ADMINISTRATOR OF
DENTON COUNTY; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Article II, Section 2.01(a) of the Denton City Charter provides, that the city
council shall have seven (7) members, six (6) councilpersons and a mayor...Each councilperson
shall be elected to and occupy a place on the council, such places being numbered one (1), two (2),
three (3), four (4), five (5) and six (6). The mayor's position on the council shall be place seven
(7)
WHEREAS, in accordance with Article II, Section 2.0 1 (b) of the Denton City Charter, four
(4) members of the council whose positions shall be places one (1), two (2), three (3), and four (4),
shall be residents of and elected by the qualified voters of single-member geographical districts of
the city, known as districts one (1), two (2), three (3), and four (4); and
WHEREAS, the two-year term for Districts 1, 2, 3, and 4 are due for a regular election to
be held in accordance with the Denton City Charter on a uniform election date as defined in the
Texas Election Code. NOW THEREFORE;
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION 1. A municipal election is ordered to be held in the City of Denton, Texas on
Saturday, MAY 3, 2025, such date being a uniform election date as defined in the Texas Election
Code §4 1.001, for the purpose of electing council members for Districts 1, 2, 3, and 4. In the event
a runoff is required, the runoff election shall be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025.
SECTION 2. The polling places shall be designated by the Denton County Elections
Administrator (the “Elections Administrator”) in accordance with the provisions of a joint election
agreement and contract for election services (the “Agreement”) with the Elections Administrator.
The locations of such polling places are set forth in Exhibit A, attached hereto. Exhibit A shall be
modified to include additional or different election day polling places designated by the Elections
Administrator and to conform to the Agreement.
SECTION 3. Early voting shall be conducted by personal appearance at the locations, dates
and times set forth in Exhibit B, attached hereto, and during the early voting period as required or
permitted by law. Exhibit B shall be modified to include additional or different early voting
locations designated by the Elections Administrator and to conform to the Agreement.
SECTION 4. The most accurate information on election day and early voting locations and
voting times can be found or obtained by visiting the Denton County webpage noted below or
contacting said County as noted:

SECTION 5. The Elections Administrator shall serve as the early voting clerk in
accordance with the terms of the Agreement. The main early voting location for the election shall
be at the following address:

SECTION 6. _Applications for early voting by mail must be received no later than the close
of regular business on April 22, 2025. Applications for early voting by mail must be submitted to
the following address:

SECTION 7. The manner of holding such election and all questions pertaining thereto shall
be governed by the election laws of the State of Texas.
SECTION 8. This Ordinance shall become effective immediately upon its passage and
approval.

ORDENANZA DE LA CIUDAD DE DENTON QUE DECRETA UNA ELECCION PARA LOS
DISTRITOS 1, 2, 3 Y 4 QUE SE CELEBRARA EL DIA 3 DE MAYO DE 2025 Y, SI SE
REQUIERE, UNA ELECCI6N DE SEGUNDA VUELTA QUE SE CELEBRARA EL DIA 7 DE
JUNIO DE 2025; QUE DICTAMINA EL HORARIO, LA MODALIDAD Y LA EJECUCION
DE LA ELECCI6N, DE CONFORMIDAD CON UN ACUERDO ELECTORAL CONJUNTO
Y UN CONTRATO DE SERVICIOS ELECTORALES CON EL ADMINISTRADOR
ELECTORAL DEL CONDADO DE DENTON; Y QUE DISPONE UNA FECHA DE
ENTRADA EN VIGOR.
POR CUANTO, el Articulo ll de la Secci6n 2.01 (a) de los Estatutos de la Ciudad de Denton
dispone que el Concejo Municipal contara con siete (7) miembros: seis (6) concejales y un
alcalde... Cada concejal sera elegido y ocupar£ una posici6n en el Concejo, siendo dichas
posiciones numeradas como uno (1), dos (2), tres (3), cuatro (4), cinco (5) y seis (6). La posici6n
de alcalde en el Concejo sera la posici6n siete (7).
POR CUANTO, de conformidad con el Artfculo ll de la Secci6n 2.01 (b) de los Estatutos
de la Ciudad de Denton, cuatro (4) miembros del Concejo, cuyas posiciones sean las posiciones
uno (1), dos (2), tres (3) y cuatro (4), sean residentes y se elegir£n por los votantes calificados de
los distritos geogr£ficos uninominales de la Ciudad, conocidos como distritos uno (1), dos (2), tres
(3) y cuatro (4).
POR CUANTO, el mandato de dos a6os para los distritos 1, 2, 3 y 4 esti pendiente para la
celebraci6n de una elecci6n regular, de conformidad con los Estatutos de la Ciudad de Denton, en
una fecha electoral uniforme, como se define en el C6digo Electoral de Texas. POR LO TANTC);
EL CONCEJO DE LA CIUDAD DE DENTON DECRETA LO SIGUIENTE:
SECCION I. Se decreta la celebraci6n de una elecci6n municipal en la Ciudad de Denton
(Texas) el dia sabado 3 DE MAYO DE 2025, siendo dicha fecha una fecha electoral uniforme,
como se define en la Secci6n (§) 41.001 del C6digo Electoral de Texas, con el fin de elegir a los
concejales para los distritos 1, 2, 3 y 4. En caso de que se requiera una segunda vuelta, la elecci6n
de segunda vuelta se celebrara el dia s£bado 7 de junio de 2025.
SECCION 2. Los lugares de votaci6n seran designados por el Administrador Electoral del
Condado de Denton (el “Administrador Electoral”), de conformidad con las disposiciones de un
acuerdo electoral conjunto y un contrato de sewicios electorales (el “Acuerdo”) con el
Administrador Electoral. Las sedes de dichos lugares de votaci6n se establecen en el Anexo A,
adjunto al presente documento. El Anexo A se modificara para incluir lugares de votaci6n
adicionales o diferentes para el dia de la elecci6n designados por el Administrador Electoral y para
cumplir con el Acuerdo.
SECCION 3. La votaci6n anticipada se llevar£ a cabo mediante comparecencia personal
en las sedes, fechas y horarios establecidos en el Anexo B, adjunto al presente documento, y
durante eI periodo de votaci6n anticipada conforme lo exija o permita Ia ley. El Anexo B se
modificar£ para incluir sedes de votaci6n anticipada adicionales o diferentes designadas por el
Administrador Electoral y para cumplir con el Acuerdo.

SECCION 5. El Administrador Electoral actuar£ como secretario de votaci6n anticipada,
de conformidad con los t6rminos del Acuerdo. La secie principal de votaci6n anticipada para las
