HomeMy WebLinkAbout25-629ORDINANCE NO. 25-629 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF DENTON, A TEXAS HOME-RULE MUNiCIPAL CORPORATION, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT ON BEHALF OF THE CITY A REIMBURSEMENT GRANT FROM THE FEDERAL AVIATION ADMINISTRATION (“FAA”), ADMINISTERED BY THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (“TxDOT”) RELATING TO AN INFRASTRUCTURE INVESTMENT AND JOBS ACT (“IIJA”) GRANT FOR ENGNEERING EVALUATION FOR THE AIRPORT TAXIWAY REHABILITATION PRIORITIZATION PROJECT WITH THE CITY RESPONSIBLE FOR UP TO TEN PERCENT OF TOTAL PROJECT COSTS; REQUIRtNG THE CITY TO PROVIDE $5,320.00 1N CONTRIBUTORY FUNDS FOR SAID PROJECT AT THE DENTON ENTERPRISE AIRPORT FOR AN ESTIMATED TOTAL PROJECT COST OF $53,200.00; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City of Denton (“City”) intends to engage professional services to conduct a Taxiway Rehabilitation Prioritization Report at the Denton Enterprise Airport (“Project”); and WHEREAS, the general purpose of the report is to identify and prioritize rehabilitation needs for various pavement sections not typically eligible for higher priority FAA funding, ensuring long-term functionality and safety at the Airport; and WHEREAS, the City intends to utilize the FY 2022 Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (“IIJA”) grant funds from the Federal Aviation Administration (“FAA”), administered by the Texas Department of Transportation (“TxDOT”), for this approved purpose; and WHEREAS, the total estimated cost of the Taxiway Rehabilitation Prioritization Report is $53,200.00, with the City of Denton responsible for up to ten percent of the cost, amounting to $5,320.00 in contributory funds; and WHEREAS, the FY 2022 lIJA grant for Denton Enterprise Airport originally totaled $763,000.00, and this allocation represents the final use of remaining funds from the 2022 grant funds; and WHEREAS, the City of Denton designates TxDOT as its agent for the purposes of applying for, receiving, and disbursing all funds for these improvements; and WHEREAS, the City Council desires the City Manager, or their designee, to execute on behalf of the City of Denton all contracts and related documents with the State of Texas, represented by TxDOT, and such other parties as shall be necessary and appropriate for the implementation of the improvements at Denton Enterprise Airport and to take all such further action necessary to accomplish the Project: NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS: SECTION 1. The findings and recitals contained in the preamble of this ordinance are incorporated herein by reference as true and as if fully set forth in the body of this ordinance. SECTION 2. The City hereby authorizes the City Manager, or their designee, to execute on behalf of the City all contracts and related documents with the State of Texas, represented by TxDOT, for the financial assistance and implementation of the Project at the Denton Enterprise Airport including the Designation of Sponsor form attached hereto. SECTION 3. The City Manager, or their designee, is further authorized to carry out all duties and responsibilities to be performed by the City under the offer for the completion of the Project, including, but not limited to, the expenditure of funds. SECTION 4. This ordinance shall become effective immediately upon its passage and approval. The motion to approve this ordinance was made by Brandon Chase McGee and seconded by Vicki Byrd.
