SUBJECT
Consider approval of a resolution of the City of Denton confirming the appointment of Kristi Gilbert as the
City Secretary; and providing an effective date.
BACKGROUND
Ingrid Rex tendered her resignation from the City of Denton effective May 13, 2026. Kristi Fogle has served
as the Interim City Secretary while the City completed an application process for the permanent position.
Following a thorough external application process, the City Manager’s Office has selected Kristi Gilbert as
the City of Denton’s new City Secretary. Kristi Gilbert has more than 20 years of relevant experience in
local government administration, city secretary operations, records management, election administration,
and service to elected officials and the community. She previously served as the City Administrator for the
City of Aurora, Texas, and held several leadership positions in towns and cities across North Texas. Kristi
is also a Texas Registered Municipal Clerk and an International City/County Management Association
Credentialed Manager.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends the appointment of Kristi Gilbert as the City Secretary.
