HomeMy WebLinkAbout26-1380 ORD and Giving Grace DFG PA 2026-27-ORDINANCE NO. 26-1380 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS, APPROVING THE DEVELOPMENT FEE GRANT AWARD TO GIVING GRACE FOR THE LOVE FIRST PROJECT; AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A DEVELOPMENT FEE GRANT AGREEMENT AND EXPENDITURE OF FUNDS NOT TO EXCEED $50,000; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City Council created the Development Fee Grant Program on March 31, 2020, for the purposes of providing development fee relief to nonprofits constructing either nonprofit facilities or single-family affordable homeownership opportunities; and WHEREAS, Giving Grace, a nonprofit organization based in Denton, Texas, has applied for funds from the Development Fee Grant program, requesting to be reimbursed for development fees related to the construction of the Love First project; and WHEREAS, the Love First project will provide transitional housing for families experiencing homelessness, with supportive services provided on -site, services to victims of abuse or neglect, and subsidized quality child care for children and youth; and WHEREAS, the Love first project is eligible for award, up to a maximum amount of 50,000; and WHEREAS, The City Council deems it to be in the public interest to approve the application and to authorize the expenditure of funds in an amount not to exceed $50,000; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS: SECTION 1. The findings and recitations contained above are found to be true and incorporated herein by reference as if fully set forth below. SECTION 2. The City Council approves the Development Fee Grant application and authorizes the City of Denton Community Services Department to execute the Development Fee Grant Agreement ("Exhibit A") and issue funds in an amount not to exceed $50,000. SECTION 3. This ordinance shall be effective as of its date of approval and passage by City Council.
