MAY 8, 1990
The Council convened into the Special Call session at 6:00 p.m.
in the City Council Chambers.
PRESENT:
Mayor Stephens; Mayor Pro Tem Ayer; Council
Members Alexander, Boyd, Gorton, Hopkins ~nd
McAdams.
ABSENT: None
1. Ordinances
A. The Council considered adoption of an ordinance
canvassing the returns and declaring the results of the regular
municipal election held in the City of Denton on May 5, 1990
and ordering a runoff election if required.
The following ordinance was considered:
NO. 90-068
ORDINANCE CANVASSING THE RETURNS AND DECLARING THE
RESULTS OF THE REGULAR MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD IN THE CITY OF
DENTON ON MAY 5, 1990 AND ORDERING A RUNOFF ELECTION IF
REQUIRED.
'McAdams motioned, Gorton seconded to adopt the ordinance. On
roll vote, McAdams "aye," Alexander "aye," Hopkins maye,"
Gorton "aye," Ayer "aye," Boyd "aye," and Mayor Stephens
"aye." Motion carried unanimously.
2. Oath of Office administered to newly elected Council
Members.
Jennifer Walters, City Secretary, administered the oath of
office to the following newly elected Council Members:
Bob Castleberry, Mayor; Jim Alexander, Council Member - Place 5.
Items ~3 and #4 were not considered.
Miscellaneous matters from the City Manager.
Lloyd Harrell, City Manager, stated that as there was a run-off
election necessary in Place 6, the election of a Mayor Pro Tem
and appreciation for Linnie McAdams would be postponed until
the special call meeting of May 22, 1990. At that time, those
items, along with an appreciation for Ray Stephens would be
considered.

6. New Business
No items of new business were suggested by Council Members for
future agendas.
7. The Council did not meet in Executive Session.
With no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 6:30 p.m.
