November 12, 2001
The City of Denton City Council held an Informational Briefing Session on Monday, November
12, 2001 at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Work Session Room at City Hall.
PRESENT:
Mayor Brock; Mayor Pro Tem Beasley; Council Members Burroughs, Fulton,
McNeill, Phillips and Redmon.
ABSENT: None
1. The Council received a report, held a discussion, and gave staff direction regarding the
draft Development Code.
Doug Powell, Director of Planning and Development stated that there were four outstanding
issues from the prior meeting on the Development Code: (1) environmentally sensitive areas and
related issues in the ETJ, (2) outstanding Planning and Zoning Commission recommendations
that were not reflected in the draft code, (3) multi-family concentrations and (4) mapping issues.
Council discussed the pros and cons to having the code requirements for environmentally
sensitive areas extend into the ETJ. Consensus of the Council was to include the flood plain
areas in the ETJ in the ESA. Council discussed and developed a consensus on the issues listed in
Attachment 3 of the agenda back-up materials plus the multi-family concentrations issue. Staff
would incorporate the direction given by the Council on each issue. Mapping issues were not
discussed at this meeting.
2. The Council did not meet in a Closed Meeting during this session.
With no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:40 p.m.
