After determining that a quorum was present, the City Council of the City of Denton and the
Denton Independent School District Board of Trustees convened in a Joint Meeting on Monday,
March 1, 2021, at 11 :31 a.m. in the Council Work Session Room at City Hall, 215 E. McKinney
Street, and Denton ISD Central Services Building, 1307 N. Locust St., Denton, Texas at which the
following items were considered.
PRESENT: Mayor Gerard Hudspeth, Mayor Pro Tem Jesse Davis and Council Members Birdia
Johnson, Connie Baker, John Ryan, Deb Armintor, and Paul Meltzer
ABSENT: None
Also present were Interim City Manager Sara Hensley and City Attorney Aaron Leal.
Note: Mayor Gerard Hudspeth, Mayor Pro Tem Jesse Davis and Council Members Birdia
Johnson, Connie Baker, John Ryan, Deb Armintor, and Paul Meltzer participated in the
work session via video/teleconference under the provisions allowed by the Texas
Government Code Section 551.127.
Note: Members representing the Denton Independent School District (DISD) were President
Barbara Burns, Vice President Mia Price, and Board Members Jeannetta Smith, Doug
Chadwick, Charles Stafford, Jim Alexander, and Patricia Sosa-Sanchez. Also present were
Superintendent Jamie Wilson and Board Attorney Deron Robinson.
NOTE: There was no public registration/call-in process as this was a work session only.
WORK SESSION
1. Work Session Reports
A. ID 21-239 Receive a report and hold a discussion regarding the Police Department Student
Resource Officer (SRO) Program.
Mayor Pro Tem Davis had a conflict of interest and was removed from the video conference,
thereby not participating in any deliberation.

B. ID 21-331 Receive a report and hold a discussion regarding an update on capital
infrastructure construction and development projects in the City of Denton impacting Denton
Independent School District facilities.
The item was presented and discussion followed.
Following discussion, staff was directed to provide to Denton ISD the following information:

The information being sent out to citizens on road improvements, so they too have
an opportunity to notify their constituents the information is coming.
The point of contact for TxDOT on who the City is working with on the projects.
The point of contact for the City that individuals can contact regarding any concerns
relating to the upcoming projects.
C. ID 21-332 Receive a report and hold a discussion regarding an update from Denton
Independent School District on the 87th Session of the Texas State Legislature.
The item was presented and discussion followed.

D. ID 21-403 Receive a report and hold a discussion regarding the use of storage space in the
warehouse located at 651 S. Mayhill Road.
