November 05, 2022 Texas Arbor Day Proclamation by tfje Oapor of tie QCitp of Benton, Texas To all to tuljom tbe5e pre5ent5 51jall Conte, Orerting5: WHEREAS, all across Texas, from towering pines to majestic oaks to scrubby mesquites the many trees of Texas are beautiful and prominent features of our unique and breathtaking landscape;and WHEREAS, as Texans, we value trees and the benefits they provide, including clean air, clear water, improving our health,and even lowering energy bills;and WHEREAS, we encourage our community to plant and celebrate trees on the first Friday each November honoring Texas Arbor Day;and WHEREAS, Texas first observed Arbor Day in 1889, under the leadership of the Texas Forestry Association;and WHEREAS, together, we can create a brighter and more beautiful future for the next generation, while protecting our natural resources as responsible stewards of this great land. NOW,THEREFORE, I, Gerard Hudspeth, Mayor of the City of Denton, Texas, do hereby declare and proclaim the 5th day of November 2022 as "TEXAS ARBOR DAY" in the City of Denton and encourage residents to use this as an opportunity to learn what each of us can do to keep our community trees healthy and vibrant.
