WHEREAS,The Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas inspires girls even'where to stand up and make a difference. By
nurturing innovation and developing leadership skills, they prepare girls to overcome challenges and
advocate for their ideas now and for the future. Their mission is to build girls of courage, confidence,and character, and girls who will lnake the world a better place; and
WHEREAS,in honor of the ]35 girls from the Gir] Scouts of Northeast Texas Council that has earned the Girl
Scout Gold Award for 202 1 -2022; and
WHEREAS,Emilie TuTell has been selected to receive the Gold Award for her hard work in the City of Denton’s
commun iry; and
WHEREAS,the Girl Scout Gold Award is the highest level of achievement in Girl Scouts. In order to receive
the Gold Award. a Girl Scout has to do something in her own community that is sustainable andrequires 80 hours of work; and
WHEREAS,the girls who pursue the award learn leadership skills, organizational skills, and a sense of community
and conlnritnrent that sets the foundation for a lifetime of active citizenship; and
WHEREAS,the Girl Scout Gold Award provides the opportunity for girls to create ''take action’- projects that
further the Girl Scouts brand in our communities, which helps girls make the world a better place; and
WHEREAS,Girl Scouts is an excellent organization that builds girls of courage, confidence, and character
NOW,THEREFORE,1, Gerard Hudspeth, Mayor of the City of Denton, Texas. do hereby recognize the Girl Scouts of
Northeast Texas for their outstanding contributions to our community and the lives of each girl itlrullures
