Greeting.5:
WHEREAS, the educational system within the United States of America and State of Texas is a vital part of
society,providing education for young and old alike; and
I
WHEREAS, at the heart of the educational system are educators devoted to sharing their knowledge and
experience with students; and
I
WHEREAS, in the City of Denton,there are many retired educators who have spent most of their lives giving
of themselves to children,having demonstrated an ability to meet new challenges with enthusiasm;
and
WHEREAS, during their years of dedicated service,they have earned the admiration and respect of students,
parents,friends, and colleagues;and
WHEREAS, retired teacher, Sarah Parker, was born in Omaha, Texas, graduated from Jarvis Christian I
College and came to Denton in 1958, beginning her career as second grade teacher and
basketball coach at Fred Moore School.Following,she taught at Woodrow Wilson in 1967 once
Fred Moore School closed. She married Luther Parker in 1959 and retired from Denton ISD in
1991.
NOW,THEREFORE, I, Gerard Hudspeth, Mayor of the City of Denton,Texas, do hereby declare and proclaim the 5th

in the City of Denton. The City of Denton and Denton Independent School District extends its
appreciation and gratitude to this valued retired educator for her years of dedicated service and i
contribution to the education of children and the well-being of the community.
