Response from staff sent Sept.18 email: 15 "In regards to public access Narcan the ire department has determined that the City of Coppell is a local municipality that has added Narcan to existing AED cabinets in public buildings. With limited research it is our understanding the a Medical Standing Order would be required by our Medical Director if the city ever moved forward with public access Narcan. Currently both Fire and Police departments carry Narcan and Fire averages administering it approximately 100 times annually. Narcan potency lasts only 30-90 minutes while Fentanyl and other Diploids last much longer.A concern exists if publicly available,if EMS or medical attention is not called,there is a possibility of the person that overdosed could relapse at a later time,unwitnessetl.
