1929* The Denton League of United Latin American Citizens(LULAC) Council
#4366 honored zg high school Latino students from Denton ISD April 26, 2014 at
the Denton Country Club. They were joined by LULAC members, community advocates,
and their proud parents as LULAC also recognized Dr. Rudy Rodriguez, Denton ISD
board member as the Denton LULAC Community Advocate of the Year.
Current LULAC President, Alfredo Sanchez, recognized the LULAC scholars and
their parents fortheir scholarly achievement. He challenged them to give back to the
community as they continue to enhance their education. Mr. Sanchez highlighted the
undertakings that LULAC will exert during 2014 as well as acknowledging the donors
that made this night possible in order to award these scholarships.
Scholarship Chair, Anita Martinez-Strickland shared that LULAC Council #4366
awards these scholarships with community and business contributions that are
matched by National LULAC at 5o%. By donating $667, National LULAC matches the
local council with $334 for a total $s000 scholarship. Anita welcomes the community
and business leaders to donate now for the 202.5 Scholarship Banquet to be held April
