Honoring Sylvia Guzman-Acuff
As President of League of United Latin American Citizens(LULAC)
Denton Council#4366
WHEREAS, the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), founded in 1929, is the
oldest and most widely respected Hispanic civil rights organization in the United States of America; and
WHEREAS, since its founding, LULAC has fought for full access to the political process and
works to improve opportunities for Hispanic Americans; and
WHEREAS, the mission of the League of United Latin American Citizens is to advance the
economic condition, educational attainment, political influence, housing, health and civil rights of the
Hispanic population of the United States; and
WHEREAS, the Denton County Historical Commission Museums Committee and the
Commissioners Court would like to thank Sylvia for all her hard work with the Hispanic Heritage events
and displays; and
WHEREAS, Denton County looks forward to continuing the partnership between LULAC and
the Denton County Commissioners Court.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Denton County Commissioners Court does
honor Sylvia Guzman-Acuff upon her being sworn in as LULAC President for Denton Council #4366.
