WHEREAS, Deacon Curtis Stevenson,head deacon of Grace City Church of North Dallas,has demonstrated
exceptional dedication and service to the community of Denton, both as a leader and a devoted
public servant exemplifying the highest standards of professionalism,integrity,and commitment
to the safety and well-being of our citizens; and
WHEREAS, Deacon Curtis Stevenson has provided unwavering support and guidance to the fellow
parishioners of his congregation, in selfless service for 10.5 years; and
WHEREAS, alongside his devoted wife, Carolyn Stevenson, Deacon Stevenson has shown extraordinary
strength and resilience, supporting each other and their community through times of joy and
sorrow; and
WHEREAS, we also honor the memory of their beloved son, Curtis Malik Stevenson Jr., whose life was
tragically cut short in 2023. Curtis's spirit and legacy continue to inspire and remind us of the
preciousness of every life and the importance of community; and
WHEREAS, the City of Denton recognizes Deacon Curtis Stevenson for his outstanding contributions and
dedication, both as a Lieutenant, churchman, and leader within his congregation, and
acknowledges the profound impact he had on the lives of many.
NOW,THEREFORE, I,Gerard Hudspeth,Mayor of the City of Denton,Texas,do hereby declare and present the Citizen
of Distinction Award to Deacon Curtis Stevenson, in recognition of his exemplary service,
leadership,and in memory of his son,Curtis Malik Stevenson Jr.on this the 8th day of September
2024
in the City of Denton.
