WHEREAS, The City of Denton, Texas, is committed to becoming the premier regional, state, and national
destination for Halloween events and entertainment; and
WHEREAS, staff have drawn inspiration from the successful Halloween events and placemaking in Conway,
South Carolina, where citywide programming has significantly boosted tourism, economic
development, and community spirit; and
WHEREAS, the creativity of Denton has been harnessed to curate an exciting calendar of Halloween events
for October, with themed public spaces designed to build on Denton's unique character and
encourage a festive spirit; and
WHEREAS, the promotion of"31 Days of Halloween" will attract residents and visitors to Denton, where
they can experience vibrant Halloween decorations and engaging events,thereby boosting local
economic development,and enhancing tax revenues for the benefit of all Denton residents; and
WHEREAS, this ceremonial act represents our collective dedication to a comprehensive and vibrant
Halloween program for October 2024.
NOW,THEREFORE, I,Gerard Hudspeth,Mayor of the City of Denton,Texas,do hereby resolve to ceremonially change
the name of Denton, Texas to "HALLOWEEN, TEXAS" temporarily for the month of October
2024.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the official
seal of the City of Denton,Texas to be affixed this the 17'h day of September 2024.
