ORDINANCENO
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS AMENDING THE SCHEDULE OF
ELECTRIC RATES FOR ELECTRIC SERVICE CONTAINED IN ORDINANCE NO 98-262,
AMENDING TEMPORARY SERVICE SCHEDULE (TI), PROVIDING FOR A REPEALER,
PROVIDING FOR A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE, PROVIDING FOR RETROACTIVE
EFFECT OF THE AMENDMENT RESPECTING SCHEDULE (T1), AND PROVIDING FOR
AN EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, on the 8t~ day of September, 1998, the Council passed and approved
Ordinance No 98-262, which adopted the amended Schedule of Rates for Denton Municipal
Electric ("DME"), ~ncludlng, among other rates, Schedule T1 (Temporary Service Schedule),
such Schedule of Rates becoming effective on the 1st day of October, 1998, and
WHEREAS, the DME staff has carefully evaluated the existing Temporary Service
Schedule (T1) and has recommended to the Council that Schedule T1 be amended, so that the
Temporary Service Schedule will be a s~mpler, more economical, and more competmve rate,
consldenng the overall goals, purposes, design, and fiscal ~mpact of that particular rate, the scope
of the proposed amended rate is hm~ted to underground electric servme to residential new
construction only, and the proposed amended rate would not be avmlable to commercial or,
~ndusmal~customers, nor to overhead electric service provided to any Denton Mumclpal Electric
customer, and
WHEREAS, the Council deems ~t in the pubhc ~nterest to amend the Temporary Servme
Schedule as provided for in the attached "Schedule T1, Temporary Service (effective 07-01-
99)", NOW, THEREFORE,
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS
SECTION I That the Schedule of Rates for electric service as prowded for ~n Chapter
26 of the Code of Ordmances of the C~ty of Denton, Texas, ~n Ordinance No 98-262, is hereby
amended, as set forth partmularly ~n that certmn amended Schedule T1 (Temporary Serwce)
attached hereto and ~ncorporated herewith by reference
SECTION II That all ordinances or parts of ordinances m fome when the provisions
of th~s ordinance became effective which are ~nconsistent or in conflmt with the terms or
prows~ons contmned m amended Schedule TI hereby enacted by th~s ordinance, are hereby
repealed to the extent of any such conflmt
SECTION III That ~f any section, subsection, paragraph, sentence, clause, phrase or
word m th~s ordinance, or apphcatlon thereof to any person or circumstances ~s held invalid by
any court of competent junsd~ction, such holdmg shall not affect the validity of the remmmng
portions of th~s ordanance, and the Caty Council of the City of Denton, Texas hereby declares ~t
would have enacted such remalmng portions despite any such lnvahdlty
SECTION IV That the effective date of amendment to Temporary Service Schedule
(T1) as herein amended and adopted, is retroactively ratified and approved, from and after July 1,
1999, and a copy of said Schedule T1, as amended hereby, shall be maimamed on file ~n the
office of the City Secretary
SI~CTION V That except as provided in Section IV herein, this ordinance shall become
effective tmmedmtely upon ~ts passage and approval

APPLICATION
Apphcable when a customer requests electric service on a short-term or temporary basis
where a customer has received a permit from the C~ty of Denton's Building Inspections Department
This rate Is not applicable after the cemficate of occupancy has been issued

MINIMUM BILLING

TYPE OF SERVICE
At the City's avtulable secondary supply
ADDITIONAL TEMPORARY SERVICE CHARGES
Labor (Regular Time) $60 00 mmimum up to 1 hour $60 00 for each additional
hour (to be measured to the nearest one-quarter hour)
Labor (Overtime) $75 00 minimum up to I hour $75 00 for each additional
hour (to be measured to the nearest one-quartar hour)
Premimn time to be added where applicable
Transportation To be billed by hours or miles, as applicable, according to
the estimated cost of operating the equipment
Materml Mater~al that cannot be salvaged to be b~lled at Stores cost
plus 25% and apphcable sales tax At the tune a
temporary serwce ~s removed or converted, any loss xn the
materml installed due to neghgence or w~llful action by
the customer w~ll be billed separately to the customer at
replacement cost plus 25% and sales tax
SPECIAL FACILITIES
All, services which require specml fac~lmes m order to meet the customer's service
requirements shall be prowded subject to special faclht~es rider See Section 25-23(e) for standard
requirements
FLAT RATE TEMPORARY SERVICE
Apl~hcable to new construction of underground residential service only
Rate A fiat fee of $195 per lot payable when the customer apphes for temporary service
PRORATION OF UTILITY BILLS
B~llmg for the Fac~hty charge shall be based on 12 b~lhngs annually and prorated for longer or
shorter periods using the following formula
