MAXIMUM PRIMA FACIE SPEED LIMIT FOR SAID SCHOOL SAFETY SPEED ZONES TO
SPEEDS FOUND TO BE REASONABLE AND SAFE BY THE ENGINEERING AND
TRAFFIC DEPARTMENT INVESTIGATIONS FOR THE DESIGNATED HOURS,
PROVIDING FOR SCHOOL BUS LOADING ZONES AT CERTAIN SCHOOLS, PROVIDING
A PENALTY OF A FINE NOT TO EXCEED TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS ($200 00),
PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE, PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION, AND
DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS
SECTION 1 That based upon an Englneenng and Traffic Department ~nvestlgatlon
heretofore made, as authonzed by the provisions of Section 545 357 of the Transportation Code,
V T C A, the prima facle speed hmlt of twenty (20) miles per hour for velucles m hereby
determmed and declared to be prima fame reasonable and safe, and such speed hmlt m hereby fixed
for vebacles traveling wltlun the following described school zones
A That the time periods for the reduced speeds for the school zones described below shall be
from 7 30 am until 8 30 am and from 2 30 p m until 3 30 p m on school days The location of

Loading Zone An individual adjudged guilty of the prows~on of this section shall be guilty of a
misdemeanor and pumshed by a fine not to exceed Two Hundred Dollars ($200 00)
SEQTION 7 That this ordinance shall be cumulative of all other ordinances of the City of
Denton defunng school zones and school bus loading zones and shall not repeal any of the
prowmons of said ordinances except m those instances where prows~ons of those ordinances are in
direct conflict with the prows~ons of tl~s ordinance
SECTION 8 That if in any section, subsection, paragraph, sentence, clause, phrase or word
in fins ordinance, or appheatlon thereof to any person or circumstance is held invalid by any court
of competent jurisdiction, such holding shall not affect the validity of the remmmng portions of this
ordinance, and the City Council of the City of Denton, Texas hereby declares it would have enacted
such remmmng portions despite any such invalidity
SECTION 9 That this ordinance shall become effective fourteen (14) days from the date of
its passage, and the C~ty Secretary is hereby directed to cause the caption of this ordinance to be
published twice an the Denton Record-Chronicle, the official newspaper of the City of Denton,
Texas, wlttun ten (10) days of the date of~ts passage,

The southernmost lane of Sun Valley Drive beglnmng where Sun Valley Drive intersects the
east curbhne of Stuart Road to where Sun Valley Drive intersects the west curbhne of
Yellowstone Place
3 MeNtor Elementary
The westernmost lane of Montecato Drive begmmng 287 feet south of where Montec~to
Drive intersects the south curblme of H~ckory Creek Road to 407 feet south of where
MonteeRo Drive intersects the south curblme of H~ckory Creek Road
4 Sullivan Keller Elementary
The northernmost lane of Davas Street beg~nmng where Daws Street intersects the west

person to operate or park a motor vehicle other than a school bus in a herein described School Bus
Loading Zone An andlwdual adjudged gmlty of the provision of fins section shall be gnflty of a
m~sdemeanor and punished by a fine not to exceed Two Hundred Dollars ($200 00)
~qF~C. TION 7. That this ordinance shall be cumulattve of all other ordinances of the City of
Denton defimng school zones and school bus loading zones and shall not repeal any of the
provmlonS of stud ordinances except m those instances where provisions of those ordinances are in
direct conflmt with the provisions oftlus orchnance
S~CTION g. That if m any sectlon, subseclaon, paragraph, sentence, clause, phrase or word
in this orchnance, or apphcatlon thereof to any p~rson or circumstance is held lnvahd by any court
of competent junschctlon, such holding shall not affect the vahdaty of the remalmng portions of fins
ordanance, and the City Council of the Caty of Denton, Texas hereby declares at would have enacted
such remmnmg porttons despate any such lnvalichty
