1999-309AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF DENTON TEXAS AMENDING CHAPTER 25, ARTICLE IV "PARADES" OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF DENTON TO PROVIDE FOR FEES FOR FUNERAL ESCORTS BY THE DENTON POLICE DEPARTMENT, PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE, PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE, AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS, the City Council deems it in the public interest to set fees for police escorts for funerals, NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS ~ That Article IV "Parades" of Chapter 25 "Streets, Sidewalks, and Public Places" is hereby amended by adding a new Section 25-211, which shall read as follows See 25-211. Funeral Eseorts. The following fees for funeral escorts by the Denton Police Department shall be charged for any funeral procession within the City of Denton, Texas Funeral Escort 1 police unit, up to 1 hour = $40 00 Family/Funeral Escort 1 police unit, up to 1 25 hours = $75 00 Additional Umt per Escort Per each police umt, up to 1 hour = $35 00 Escorts Exceeding Mlmmum Time Limits Stated Above Each Police Unit per 0 25 hour = $10 00 ~ That save and except as amended hereby, all the sections, sentences, clauses, and phrases of Chapter 25 of the Code of Or&nances of the City of Denton shall remmn in full force and effect ~ That if any section, subsection, paragraph, sentence, clause, phrase, or word in this ordinance, or application thereof to any person or circumstance is held invalid by any court of competent jtmsdlctlon, such holding shall not affect the validity of the remmmng portions of this ordinance, and the City Council of the City of Denton, Texas hereby declares it would have enacted such remmmng portions despite any such validity ~uG._T.!.Q]:~L~ That this ordinance shall become effective lmme&ately upon its passage and approval, and the funeral escort fees shall become effective on and after October 1, 1999 PASSED AND APPROVED this the 7''~/~ day of ~t~_~ 1999 JAC~LLER, MAYOR ATTEST JENNIFER WALTERS, CITY SECRETARY Page 2
