1999-359AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF DENTON, TEXAS CHANGING WALNUT STREET
TO A ONE-WAY STREET HEADING WEST BETWEEN ELM AND LOCUST STREETS,
PROVIDING FOR SIXTY DEGREE ANGLE PARKING ON THE NORTH SIDE OF
WALNUT AND PARALLEL PARKING ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF WALNUT BETWEEN
ELM AND LOCUST STREETS, PROVIDING FOR PARKING TIME ON THIS PORTION
OF WALNUT STREET TO BE LIMITED TO TWO HOURS FROM 8 00 A M TO 5 00 P M
ON MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY, PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE, PROVIDING A
SEVERABILITY CLAUSE, PROVIDING A PENALTY NOT TO EXCEED TWO HUNDRED
DOLLARS, AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS
~ When signs or markings are m place giving notice thereof, the following
street or portion of a street shall be designated for only one-way traffic heading west and it shall
be unlawful to travel east on that po~on of the street
On Walnut Street from its intersection with Elm Street to its intersection with Locust
Street
~ The parking of vehicles on Walnut Street from its intersection with Elm
Street to its intersection with Locust Street shall be designated as described below and any
parking contrary to the following provisions shall be unlawful except when it is necessary to stop
a velnele to avoid conflict with other traffic or m eomphance with the direet~on of a police
officer or offieml traffic control device
I On the north side of flus portxon of Walnut Street, sixty degree angled parkang will be
allowed No parking wxflun twenty-five feet of Elm Street or Locust Street will be
allowed and no parking that blocks access to any driveways will be allowed
2 On the south side of this portion of Walnut Street parallel parking will be allowed
No parking within twenty-five feet of Elm Street or Locust Street will be allowed and
no parPang that blocks access to any driveways will be allowed
~ All parkang m any of the areas designated by Section 2 of this ordinance
shall be limited to no longer than two hours on Monday through Friday from 8 00a m to 5 00
pm
~ That all provisions of the ordinances of the City of Denton in conflict
with the provisions of th~s ordinance are hereby repealed, and all other provisions of the
ordinances of the City of Denton, not m conflict with the prowsions of this ordinance, shall
remain in full force and effect
SECTION 5. That ~fany prowslon ofthts ordinance or apphcation thereof to any person
or circumstance ~s held tnvahd, such mvahd~ty shall not affect the other provisions or
apphcat~oas, and to thts end the provmons of th~s ordinance are severable
SECTION 6. Any person adjudged gmlty of parking a vehicle m wolat~on of th~s
ordanance shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and pumshed by a fine not to exceed Two Hundred
Dollars ($200 00)
~ECTION 7. That this ordinance shall become effective fourteen (14) days from the
date of ~ts passage, and the C~ty Secretary ~s hereby d~rected to cause the caption of th~s
ordanance to be pubhshed twine m the Denton Record-Chromcle, the officml newspaper of the
C~ty of Donton, Texas, w~thm ten (10) days of the date of its passage
